Opera Blossoms

brought by a friend.

sat down, waited.

snow white drapes,

lavender-blue eyes.

spotlight on,

whole stage lit by your flame.

you sang; no stains

in your melodies; no restraints

on these floating notes.

you looked at me.

not at me, in my direction, more like.

and this time you looked at me.

not in love, in kindness, more like.

day to day friendly stare,

knowing me for the first time.

i fell asleep,

long before the stare.

those before you were,

say, monotonous.

sorry,

didn't wake in time to catch

your precious fire.

woke to a theatre in flames,

panicked, ran to rescue,

fell into an ocean of blues,

your eyes:

lavender-blue ocean.

friend tells me about your stare;

i flipped.

but now i'm holding your body,

a thousand pedals

burnt in flames.
